Project description
IdoSys (intelligent communication system) is a system used to control technically disparate locomotives from a given control vehicle. The system was developed for the Swiss Federal Railways. IdoSys provides a common interface between the control vehicle and the locomotive to be steered. It consists of a combination of information and diagnostic display with a PLC (programmable logic controller) and various sensors. These components are networked with each other via the locomotive and vehicle bus.
The system is modular, and in no case does it directly affect the drive control equipment of a locomotive. This ensures that the vehicle fleet can be extended by stages without the danger of compatibility problems arising.
