Railtec Systems GmbH and the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) signed the contract to supply up to 119 remote control computers including displays and the development of the necessary software at the InnoTrans 08 in Berlin. This is one major part of the modernization of the RH 1044 type locomotives.
The joint signature is the result of an EU-wide tender. Railtec Systems GmbH prevailed over the competitors in respect of technical matters and price. The mechanical work on the locomotives will be carried out by the ÖBB Technische Services GmbH in Linz.
Remote control computer and the display will enable the ÖBB to use the locomotives in shuttle service as well as under multiple-unit control. After the completion of this modernization the locomotives can be used considerably more flexible and economical.
The contract has a value of around 2 million Euros and is as such the largest in Railtec Systems GmbH's company history. The remote control computers are supplied by EKE-Electronics Ltd. from Finland, the displays by CC-Systems AB from Sweden. Railtec Systems GmbH is responsible for system integration, software development, support and the homologation.
Mr. Lorenz Trachsel, CEO of Railtec Systems GmbH, stated: "We are very proud to have won the tender. We are certain to fully meet ÖBB Technische Services GmbH's high expectances."
This contract, as well as the active presence at the InnoTrans 08 in Berlin shows that Railtec Systems GmbH is further seeking access to the international market. Amongst engineering services, where the company's extensive system know-how is employed, Railtec Systems GmbH will increasingly take charge of prototype production and system modernizations themselves.

May 2008
At the beginning of May 2008 we reached an agreement with the Swedish CC Systems AB company in respect of system integration. CC Systems supplies control and information systems for machines and vehicles. The devices are designed to withstand extreme conditions (temperature, soiling, vibration etc.) and have been used for many years for the initial equipment of products manufactured by John Deere, Atlas Copco, Rolls-Royce Marine, BAE Systems Hägglunds, Volvo Construction Machines, and recently also Bombardier Transportation.
February 2008
In mid February, Railtec Systems Ltd. achieved a highly significant step in its development: The entire enterprise successfully completed the certification process according to ISO 9001:2000. Parallel to the ISO certification, the firm gained the increasingly important IRIS 01 – International Railway Industry Standard – certification. We are extremely gratified at this result, as fewer than 50 companies throughout the world and in Switzerland only 4 companies have succeeded in obtaining IRIS certification.
This gives Railtec Systems Ltd. an excellent starting position for the next stage of its expansion – increasing its production levels. This includes especially the pre-assembly and final assembly and the testing of subcomponents, pre-assembly units etc. Further, Railtec Systems Ltd. will be increasingly active in the area of prototype construction.
